Global living wage campaign for Cambodia kicks off

On the first day of a wave of international actions, Clean Clothes Campaign announces its support for the demand of a coalition of Cambodian unions that the multinational brands must ensure a minimum wage of US $177. Today, thousands of women and men in Cambodia and around the world, will wear stickers saying “brands must provide a living wage for workers!” in factories which produce apparel for major global brands such as H&M, Inditex, Levi's and GAP.

Global Wage Forum confirms living wage as core human right

On the first day of the Living Wage Forum in Brussels, bringing together workers, labour leaders, academics and members of the CCC global Network, the right to a living wage was confirmed as a human right. At the forum, organised by Clean Clothes Campaign and held between 12 and 14 October, more than 200 workers, brands, policy makers and campaigners come together to commit to implement a living wage for all garment workers.

Global week of action against poverty wages at H&M

From Delhi to London, from Washington, DC to Zagreb, with many cities in between, workers and activists are drawing attention to H&M’s broken commitment that 850,000 garment workers would be paid a living wage by this year. Expressions of solidarity with garment workers and denouncements of poor and precarious working conditions have also been coming from other parts of the H&M's global supply chain.

In its 2017 Sustainability Report published today H&M is making bold claims about progress in the area of fair jobs, with a focus on living wage. Clean Clothes Campaign has been closely following H&M’s reporting in this area, as well as gathering information in production countries, and we are compelled to strongly refute the self-congratulatory statements made in the report.

Clean Clothes Campaign is disappointed that H&M's newly announced Roadmap to a Fair Living Wage fails to clearly state a living wage benchmark, we believe without such a definition it is both impossible to create a 'roadmap' to achieving its payment and similarly impossible to measure the roadmap's success.

H&M's sustainability promises will not deliver a living wage

Clean Clothes Campaign (CCC) is today calling on H&M to show evidence to back up its 'fair living wage' claims, following the release of a new Sustainability Report. The campaign says that making marketing capital from workers' poverty with little evidence of change is unethical and stands to slow down progress in the industry.
